I LOVE GUAM FOOD! - August 11, 2008

I tell people fina'denne' runs through my veins!! Fina'denne' over kaddon mannok and rice.....remember????? Mmmmm, to stay fit and in shape I just don't cook kado that often. As much as I love my Guam food, I must refrain because there is no holding back.

So, here I am. My way to appease my cravings is to simply write about them.

The purpose of A Taste of Guam, Remember Guam, and Chamorrita Passions is to help share and preserve our Chamorro culture, especially our FOOD.

I am so glad I was quick to get A Taste of Guam out. The entire experience of self-publishing / print-on-demand was / is very rewarding. A Taste of Guam was a great start to my writing / publishing career. Yes, the 2nd edition is in the works.......

Remember Guam is coming along so nicely. I'd really love to finish ASAP. Alas, the roles of business owner, trainer, wife, mom, daughter, sibling, friend, aunt, godmother etc. etc........prevail (no joke, running CIRC FITNESS is quite the task). I am so excited to publish Remember Guam because it is a terrific combination of memories, food and fun related food-facts. I am pretty much in the final phase of testing a few of the recipes and video taping them! Certainly, it would be great to finish in the next month, possible, but highly unlikely. "Baby steps" I tell my fitness clients, "baby steps".

Chamorrita Passions.......a one-book wonder. I really do need to be in the mood to work on this project. One of the more time consuming aspects is doing the research. One of the more enjoyable exercises is to put it all together in a creative mix of fact, romance and passion. FAIR WARNING.......this book is / will be very descriptive. I love that I can take Guam's history and mix it in with the Chamorro culture.....all things cultural: food, baptisms, nobenas etc. I am so, so excited for this novel. It will be quite a feat, but I look forward to spending more time on this book. It does require, though, a trip back home........a trip I need to save money for.

So begins my blog for my website,
http://www.paulaq.com/. Hope to see you back here soon.

UPDATE: My husband took this picture. It is of the food I made while measuring all the ingredients for the recipes in A Taste of Guam, published 2006. Remember Guam was finally published in the summer of 2009. I've since closed CIRC FITNESS as of December 2009, though it was an excellent experience. The name for my Guam romance novel was changed from Chamorrita Passions to Conquered...which was published in June 2016.
