GUAM COFFEE COMPANY
SUMMER 2015
Wow, writing Conquered took up so much time this past year that I haven't been able to post my Guam restaurant reviews from last summer. I better hurry it up before I'm home again...next summer maybe?
I LOVE COFFEE! And it was at Guam Coffee Company on hotel row in Tumon that I had a most delicious pitcher of black coffee. OK, let me restate my love...I love the creaminess of Almond Joy creamer in my coffee. A typical black cup of Joe is too strong and acidic for me. Until...I had siphon-brewed coffee at Guam Coffee Company.
The manager at the time was super sweet and helpful. I asked for her recommendation and she suggested siphon brew. I was familiar with this type of coffee through research, but had never had it. For those who love coffee and are trying to cut back on the cream, siphon-brewed coffee is the way to go because there is so little acid. Basically, it's a cool science experiment where water is siphoned from a lower chamber to an upper chamber of a heated contraption. Once the upper chamber is full, the coffee grounds are added, stirred, and the heat turned off. The extracted coffee drips back into the lower chamber and walla, the best black coffee ever. If you are eating dessert, you don't even need sugar in the coffee. If you are drinking just coffee, you need a touch of sugar and NO CREAM. I even asked for a small cup of regular brew, and was blown away at the huge difference in the acidity.
I LOVE COFFEE SHOPS! I really do. The atmosphere of such shops plus the array of coffee and food is a winner. I did most of my writing for Conquered in a Starbucks.
Guam Coffee Company offers a selection of sandwiches and desserts. Oh, the desserts are from Patisserie PariSco...yup, deliciousness!
I left there with some goodies, and looking forward to another visit.
